We thank MCSA Magalies Outreach for sponsoring 60 schoolchildren from Ubuhle Christian School to attend a 2-day environmental trip to Oudezwaankraal near Bronkhorstspruit on 20-21 March 2023. Thank you also to Oudewaankraal for the wonderful meals, drinks and snacks and your kind hospitality.
The children walked to the Kungwini dam where the hyacinths had overtaken the dam. Johan discussed with the learners where the hyacinths came from and how the multiply and that the people of Oudezwaankraal are breeding an insect called a hopper to manage the spread of the plant.
The children enjoyed a walk and gathered items from the field for the eco-system charts they would be making.
The eco-system charts consisted of feathers, plants, dung and insects.
Mealtimes were enjoyed!!!
